Hard Drive

The form needed to be compelling, and fit the circuit board which measures: 2.5” x 4.5” x 0.25”

Process

After some sketching, I found I had ideas for forms that were hard to realize on paper. I took a few blocks or foam and took them to the sanders. They were sanded inspired by my sketches.

First I made rougher prototypes with purple foam, then with a denser pink foam.

Prototypes 1 + 2

These two are forms done in pink foam that came from my process of experimenting with the sander, and I ended up painting them as well.

Prototype 3

This hard drive was the best form but it I had to get creative with how to fit the circuit board in a form that is not a rectangle

The views to the right show how the circuit board would theoretically fit into the hard drive

In Use

These photos are meant to show the product in use. With the help of photoshop, the foam model looks like a future hard drive.
